Serology
Serology is the study of antibodies in serum and other bodily fluids with respect to any infection. When people are exposed to virus or bacteria their body’s immune system generates particular antibodies against the organism. It refers to the diagnostic identification of antibodies in the serum and other bodily fluids. Antibody levels help physicians to decide if an infection appeared recently or some time ago. Viral infections, bacterial infections and others can be diagnosed with the help of serological studies. In compared with RT-PCR, serological test usually has the advantages of convenient and stable sample collection, easy realization of high throughput and small workload.
